Shannon Callahan spends a lot of time studying the local job market.

She works for Acara Solutions. The global talent acquisition company located in Buffalo finds talent for area companies, and it also works with individuals to help them land a job.

She said one area seeing growth is manufacturing and that is influencing other industries. “The sales team of a manufacturing company can go out and sell those products and to fill those orders, companies hire more designers, more engineers and more production to fulfill the orders.”

Callahan also said call centers are a hot spot for jobs.

n September, the NYS Department of Labor said unemployment was at 3.8%. Experts said that rate is giving applicants some leverage. “Many candidates want to know the compelling reasons why to work at a company. They want to know growth of job and the company. They’re asking what the 401k looks like. What's the PTO like? What are holiday parties?”
