(WKBW) Heart disease is the number one killer of women. It means either you, your mother, aunt, sister or friend are at risk of dying if they don't take care of their ticker.

In honor of February being "Heart Month", the American Heart Association is stepping up its Go Red for Women campaign to raise awareness of this number one killer.

Did you know that more women die of heart disease than any form of cancer? Also, 90% of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease, and 80-percent of cardiac events in women can be prevented if they make the right choices, like eating a healthy diet, exercising and not smoking.

How can you make a difference? Join thousands of men, women and businesses all over the country who will be wearing red this Friday, February 4th for National Wear Red Day, and to find out more on how you can help save women's lives, head to the Go Red for Women website by clicking on News Links.
