(WKBW) It's happening at schools all across the country, and now Pine Valley Central in Cattaraugus County is joining other districts with health centers offering birth control to students.
The birth control prescriptions and condoms will be available through the district's upcoming school-based health center, but only under a strict set of requirements.
All students, with the exception of those age 18 and older, must first receive written parental permission to be allowed to use any of the health center's services. but once permission is received, parents can't dictate which specific services could be available to their child.
The health center would also require students receiving birth control to undergo a full physical and historical evaluation.
