(WKBW/ABC) Some good news as we head into flu season. The swine flu pandemic has been ruled officially over.

The World Health Organization is now saying that the virus has largely run its course. Millions of people were affected across the world by the infection when it started spreading in April of last year. More than 18,000 died, including several right here in Western New York.

Right now, the World Health Organization says the virus is only circulating at low levels, but says there is still a chance it could rise again.

A vaccine for the swine flu will be included in the dose for the regular flu this year.
