(WKBW/ABC) Good news for people who take medication to lower their cholesterol. Researchers are finding the drug is beneficial in many other ways, and the more you take, the better.
A new study from Britain found that patients on an intensive treatment of statins saw a thirteen percent lower risk of heart attack and a sixteen percent lower risk of stroke compared to those who got standard statin doses.
Researchers say the more LDL levels drop, the risk of heart attack and stroke could be forty to fifty percent lower.
Intensive doses of statins also showed no major side effects.
