(WKBW) A protest took place outside of Southern Erie Clinical Services, a substance abuse facility in Hamburg that's scheduled to close.

The clinic is run by Erie County Medical Center and hospital officials say state budget cuts and lower insurance reimbursements are forcing them to shut the clinic's doors.

The facility has been treating families in the community for thirty years and protesters say they rely on this facility, the only public clinic in the southtowns.

ECMC says almost all of the patients at the facility will finish treatment before it closes, and its substance abuse clinic in Buffalo and the one in the northtowns will remain open.
