(WKBW) February is a month for love, but a warning from the Academy of General Dentistry says kissing can be harmful to your health!

Dentists say with just one kiss, couples can share more than 500 different types of disease-causing germs and viruses, and they say not knowing who you are kissing could be as dangerous to your health as having multiple sexual partners.

Here are the most common diseases and viruses you can transmit to each other while smooching: cold sores, colds, and mononucleosis.

Doctors say college students are more prone to developing mono, due to a lowered resistance and living in close quarters with other students.
