BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) It’s been just days since the former Buffalo Bills quarterback was diagnosed once again with oral cancer. The community is standing by his side.

Buffalo radio station 97 Rock is visiting various locations each morning, giving the community the chance to sign a “get well” card for Kelly. This is something the station did back in June, when the Hall of Famer was first diagnosed with cancer.

“This time around we got an even bigger card,” said DJ Jickster, close friend of Jim Kelly. “We started taking it out to our listeners and again, hopefully it will put a big smile on Jim’s face and get him through this.”

In June, Kelly had surgery removing part of his upper jaw and teeth to rid his oral cancer. Since then, the cancer has returned. Kelly and his family returned home last night after having an MRI sources say at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. The family is waiting on the test results.

“We’re hoping that results will come back from the test and we hope that they’re good,” said DJ Jickster.

The Hall of Famer is currently at ECMC, and those close to him say, as always, he’s in good spirits.

“Jim Kelly’s sense of humor is what keeps him going,” said actor Christopher McDonald, a close friend of Jim Kelly. “His positive attitude is extremely helpful and he will get around this.”
