(WKBW) Computed tomography. You know it better as a CT scan. It's an important diagnostic tool, and its use is on the rise, along with concerns about the effects of radiation from the procedure.

But a new study shows the risk of cancer from CT scans may be lower than previously thought.

After analyzing more than 10-million medicare records, researchers found a significantly lower cancer risk from the radiation exposure than previous estimates.
