(WKBW) Ralph Wilson Stadium is now a 100-percent smoke free zone, and local health officials and community leaders are praising the Bills organization for the ban.

The Buffalo Bills receiving the Leonard Pleasant New Voice Club Tobacco Free Advocate of the Year Award for adopting the no smoking policy.

Representatives from Roswell Park Cancer Institute, the Erie-Niagara Tobacco Free Coalition and the American Cancer Society presented the award.

For years, the team allowed smoking in designated areas, but now smoking has been banned inside the facility.

Smoking will still be allowed in the stadium parking lots.

The team says the smoke-free environment inside creates a healthier and safer experience for fans to enjoy.
