(WKBW/ABC) Just the idea of it is horrifying to a parent. Imagine giving your infant formula that may have a bug or its larvae in it?

That is why the makers of Similac-brand infant formulas are now issuing a voluntary recall of some of their powder formulas sold in this country.

The company says there's a remote chance that a small common beetle is in the product.

Federal health officials say the beetle won't pose an immediate health risk, but say there is a possibility that infants who drink formula containing the beetles or their larvae, could experience digestive discomfort as a result of small insect parts irritating the GI tract.

If these symptoms persist in your baby for more than a few days, call your doctor.
