(WKBW/ABC News) An anti-depressant might be what some women need to cool hot flashes.

A new study finds prescribing small amounts of the anti-depressant medication lexapro reduced the frequency and severity of hot flashes by about 50-percent.

Doctors say best medication to control hot flashes is estrogen, but for women who can't or don't want to take estrogen, they say the anti-depressant is a good alternative.
