Shingles
Are you at risk for developing shingles? Shingles are painful, red lesions often traced back to a childhood case of the chicken pox.
Even though the illness clears up, the virus remains dormant in the body and can come roaring back in the form of shingles during adulthood. The first symptom of the virus is often a rash. It can be a red band or streak on the face, chin or neck, but most often it's on the chest. Anti-viral medication can lessen the severity of the illness, and experts say a vaccine, recommended for those over 60, may reduce the chance of developing shingles. |
