BUFFALO, N.Y. ( WKBW ) Two young siblings are trying to raise awareness, and money, to help their grandmother fight cancer.
With the help of their mother, they have already raised thousands of dollars!
5 year old Nathaniel Haskell and his 4 year old sister Savannah are young Amherst students who are now professional bloggers.
Their Mom McKenzie told Channel 7's Patrick Taney that the blog is called "Walking For Our Gran," in honor of their grandmother, who is McKenzie's Mom.
"The blog was started in honor of my mom, who was diagnosed last year with stage 4 small cell lung cancer," McKenzie said.
Immediately after the diagnosis, Mom McKenzie and her sisters began to raise money.
"We started a Relay For Life team. My sisters and I and the kids were very interested to know what the Relay for Life was all about," McKenzie added.
The blog was born after the children wanted everyone in the world to know what they were doing for the grandmother. Mom does all the typing, but the words are truly from the kids. It outlines their work, from selling lemonade to returning bottles and cans.
So far, nearly $2,000 dollars has been raised to help fight a horrible illness, and is an eternal tribute to their grandmother.
Nathaniel and Savannah told their grandmother they love her on WKBW and now online! You can connect to their blog on the news links section of wkbw.com.
