DEPEW, N.Y. ( WKBW ) A community servant and military hero was honored Sunday in Depew.
The 2012 Legacy Gala celebrated Major Henry Williams for his work with inner city youth, keeping kids on the right track by teaching them golf.
The event was held at Salvatore's Italian Gardens, and was the launch for the Major Henry Williams Scholarship fund.
Venus Quates, granddaughter of Major Williams told Eyewitness News that helping young people in honor of her grandfather was very important. Venus said there is a website now posted where people can find out information on Williams' legacy, and how to apply for a scholarship.

The scholarship will be given to an active community servant to attend Canisius College.
