AMHERST, N.Y. ( WKBW ) More than a dozen local physicians, surgeons, and plastic surgeons are heading to Armenia later this summer. These medical professionals will donate more than 100 surgeries, repairing cleft lips and palates. They will help people with leg pain and vein problems also.
Students from Daemen College will also attend. Student physician assistants and nurse practitioners will be sponsored through the "Hope For Tomorrow" foundation.
Dr. Hratch Karamanoukian, of the Hope For Tomorrow Foundation, told Eyewitness News, "This is one of the many countries that we visit, helping people, including some African countries."
The doctors also plan to attend an audience with Pope Benedict the 16th in Rome during their mission overseas.
