HOLLYWOOD, CA ( by Cari Skillman otrc.com / KABC 7 / WKBW) It was Latin Night at "Dancing With The Stars" and that usually means we can expect things will be hot, hot, hot with dances like the salsa, the samba and the Argentine tango.

Tuesday on Channel 7's "Eyewitness News This Morning," Patrick Taney and Ginger Geoffery "dished" about "Dancing" with Ginger's Mom Virginia.

Melissa Gilbert's co-stars explain her 'Dancing With The Stars' injury
But the degree of hotness of the night could be in jeopardy if William Levy does not dance. He tweeted that on Sunday he severely injured his ankle and might not be able to perform. Ay Carumba! How can we have Latin Night without William? But look! He made it down the stairs for the open! He's standing there with Cheryl! I don't see crutches! Yes, he's dancing! And boy, does he dance! And Carlos Santana isn't just *in the house, he's in the house band!

We're halfway through Season 14! Here's a recap of each couple's dance, from highest score to lowest:

William Levy and Cheryl Burke - 29 out of 30

So apparently William has a "ripped" ligament, or some such, and I'm sure it's painful as all get out. But in true do or die sports tradition, William dances through whatever pain he's feeling and performs a killer Argentine tango. You could tell during rehearsal he was very focused, and said he didn't want to be the Latino who gets voted out on Latin Week! The ankle strain came during rehearsals on Sunday, but an MRI and lots of TLC allowed him to perform to perfection.

Head judge Len Goodman said the dance had mood, passion, and sensuality; Bruno Tonioli said it was sexy and slick; and host Tom Bergeron called Carrie Ann Inaba shell-shocked!

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas - 29 out of 30

Is this woman really just a classical singer or does she have a professional dance background she forgot to tell us about? Mark Ballas choreographed an outstanding Argentine tango and the couple seemed to really put in a lot of time this week. It wasn't without a bit of pain; Katherine's flicks and kicks sometimes knocked Mark right where it counts. But I guess these guys dance through all kinds of pain, right?

Bruno said the dance was played to perfection; and Carrie Ann called it poetry in motion. Both judges gave the couple a "10".

Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd - 27 out of 30

Donald's rehearsal looked spectacular; he really seemed to "get" the Argentine tango. He had a tricky time at first, twisting like a pretzel and spinning until he was dizzy, but this guy trains for a living as a pro football player and he's brought that same intensity to his dance training. Since he did the same dance as William and Katherine, it's hard NOT to compare, and frankly, the other two were better.

Carrie Ann must love the dance, because she gave all three Argentine tango-ers a "10." And although Len thought their lifts were spectacular, the rest was just so-so.

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough - 27 out of 30

This week, Maria adds a nasty face plant to her already cracked ribs and fractured feet. This girl is tough. But she's learned the power of the ice pack. And hasn't lost her sense of humor. Coming to rehearsal dressed in bubble wrap was classic.

Derek choreographs a fun and fast moving salsa; although their kiss in the middle of the dance seemed a bit gratuitous. The judges all deemed it hot and sexy and saucy... with Bruno even asking "was it legal?"

Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower - 26 out of 30

The youngest competitor admitted it's hard for him to dance sexy when he pretty much feels goofy all the time. He's got the salsa and knows he's got to tap into something even a little bit sexy. Roshon looks like he's only partially kidding around by saying he wants to try to channel his inner William Levy. Luckily, Roshon doesn't go too far with the sexy thing; it could have looked a little weird.

Carrie Ann called it "appropriate sexy" and praised him for finding his own mojo, not copying someone else's.

Jaleel White and Kym Johnson - 24 out of 30

Latin week is usually toughest for those who have trouble letting go of their inhibitions and that's exactly Kym Johnson's concern this week for Jaleel. They have the samba which means he needs to shake shake shake his booty... among other things. Kym also says it's time for him to show off his six-pack and his guns. Hear that William? Sounds like a throw down to me!

The judges liked the energy and fun, and the couple got 8's across the board.

Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus - 22 out of 30

The legend has the best attitude in the ballroom. She knows she's not a frontrunner. She also knows she's faced much bigger challenges than this in her lifetime. Gladys commits to learning her samba and just has fun. She also had to learn the dance while traveling to singing engagements in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas... of course, with Tristan in tow!

The judges unanimously praise her performance ability; with Len telling her she is easy on the eyes, Bruno calling her magic, and Carrie Ann saying she commands the stage.

Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy - 21 out of 30

Half-pint and Maksim both show they have a sense of humor and suit her up with a helmet and neck brace during rehearsals. Apparently her head smack and concussion last week came not from hitting the floor but hitting Maks's leg. Now those are some muscles! This week their rehearsal is filled with hip shakes for a sexy salsa and that does not come naturally to Melissa.

The judges approve, with Bruno saying she has plenty of fire but needs more control. Carrie Ann is happy to see the confidence she's gained since week one.

Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff - 19 out of 30

Oh Gavin... you are such an adorable... singer. The samba has got to be tough for any amateur dancer, and it seems especially tricky for Gavin. He just doesn't get it. And he knows it. He knows the judges know it. He just has fun.

Len calls it more "shamba" than samba, but gives Gavin a pat on the back for his gallant effort. He and Karina better start working on that dance off routine STAT!
