Companies from around the world are looking to a local business for new heart health technology.

Lewiston, N.Y. (WKBW) - A company in Lewiston owned by Jim Abbondanza is going international.

“We use a technology that is the next level in gaming,” Abbondanza said.

It is a form of heart monitoring system that is not controlled not only by your actions but your heart.

“Our trademark brand is “Heartware” like Software. It evaluates the hearts signal in a number of different ways,” Abbondanza said.

It can be used in for many different aspects. It is based off of clinical studies, not only fitness. He said the product is very different from anything on the market

“There are a dozen or so apps for I-Phones and I-Pads they illustrate heart rate. Our product gives them information other products are not providing,” Abbondanza said.

You put the monitor on and begin walking or running on the treadmill. A wireless device allows your activity to show up on a TV screen or an I-Phone.

“Instead of controlling systems with buttons and fingertips, your heart rate manages everything,” Abbondanza said.

Companies around the world are interested.

“On company obtained rights to Ironman. As you probably know it's the world leader in triatholons. They will build fitness systems for Ironman and we will build control systems for those machines,” Abbondanza said.

Jim said it not only brings attention to his product but also Western New York.
