BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - It's a pain in the neck, literally! It's the muscle strain many people get from constantly looking down at their handheld devices. Doctors are calling it "text neck", and they are seeing more and more cases of it.

Doctors say your neck should have a gentle "banana-like" curve, but they say that curve is starting to straighten out in people who are constantly looking
down at their phones or tablets.

Doctors say an adult head weighs 10-12 pounds and frequently looking down adds pressure and weight on your neck and spine, leading to injury.

What can it do to your neck? Will it cause permanent damage? Watch the video to find the answers to those questions and when you should consider seeing a doctor.
