LEWISTON, N.Y. ( WKBW ) With the arrival of hot weather comes the arrival of a favorite WNY past time—venturing out for ice cream. Whether it's during the sweltering heat of high noon or in the cool of evening, Western New Yorkers line-up for their favorite frozen treat at roadside stands all over our region.

Known to many as custard, high quality, old fashioned soft serve ice cream is hard to find these days, but not in Lewiston, NY, where Hibbard's has been churning out the good stuff since the 1930s.

Buffalo Spree Magazine's food editor, Christa Glennie Seychew, took the WKBW Eyewitness News crew up to Niagara County to find out just what makes Hibbard's so special. Turns out it is the use of fresh fruit flavorings made on site, a custard base that uses whole ingredients and no chemical additives, and a process that hasn't changed since the stand began making custard over 70 years ago.

Hibbard's is located at 105 Portage Road in Lewiston, NY."
