Buffalo ComedySportz Announces Fifth Annual “Improvathon” Event
49 1/2 hour Fundraising Event begins Friday, March 30

Buffalo ComedySportz, Western New York’s Longest Running Comedy Show, is proud to announce its fifth annual “Improvathon,” which starts Friday, March 30 at 6 pm and runs until Sunday, April 1 at 7:30 pm at the ComedySportz Arena. The Improvathon is a fundraising event to help send the Buffalo ComedySportz team to the 2012 World Comedy League Championship in Chicago in July.

ComedySportz is fast-paced, family-friendly improvisational comedy, played as a sport. Two teams take turns making up scenes, playing games, and singing songs – and the audience votes on the winner. It’s all presided over by a referee, who keeps things moving, calls the ComedySportz fouls, and takes suggestions shouted out by the audience before each game.

Featuring 49 1/2 hours of continuous improvisational comedy, the Improvathon also offers live auctions and theme baskets raffles throughout the event. Local ComedySportz teams (the Blue Cheezes and the Red Hot Wingz) will compete against each other as well as guest players from other ComedySportz cities as they prepare for an even bigger event next year.

“In 2013, Buffalo will host the World Comedy League Championship,” says Buffalo ComedySportz board member Richard Satterwhite. “Teams from England, Germany, and cities throughout the United States will descend upon Western New York for one giant improv spectacle. We’re hoping hometown audiences will support our local ‘act-letes’ as they prepare to take on their national and international counterparts in the spirit of comedic competition.”

From 4 am to 12 noon, all Improvathon tickets are $1. Otherwise, tickets range from $1-$10 for two-hour blocks throughout the event. All-access passes are available for $35-Adults, $28–Students/Seniors/Military, $18-Children. Tickets can be purchased online at buffalocsz.com in advance or at the door during the Improvathon.

The Fifth Annual ComedySportz 49 1/2 Hour Improvathon takes place at the ComedySportz Arena at 4476 Main Street in Snyder Square in Amherst. For more information, visit www.buffalocsz.com or e-mail info@buffalocsz.com or call (716) 39-FUNNY (716-393-8669).
