Medina, N.Y. (WKBW) - Dance students are hip hopping their way south this summer.
“I like that we are going to Disneyland this summer,” one dance student said.
Dance Theatre is a hip hope dance studio in Medina and they are headed to the magic Kingdom in Florida to perform for a big audience.
“We all really love to dance and we want to bring it to Florida and Disney,” Dancer Kylie Bielak said.
Dance Instructor and owner of the Dance Theatre Brandon Johnson, 30, said dancing at Disney is quite the honor.
“This year I decided to audition for Disney. We had to send in an audition video so I sent our routine from last year's competition. Disney accepted our performance and invited us to perform for the Disney Performing Arts Program,” Johnson said.
Johnson has been dancing his entire life. He said heading to Florida was one of his goals and he said it's not a competition, just a chance to let his teams shine.
“This is going to be a fun opportunity and an experience of a lifetime for them to perform there,” Johnson said.
Johnson said it is expensive for the kids to head south for the recital so they are asking for a little help from the community.
“We've been trying to do different fundraisers each month because going to Florida is not cheap,” Johnson said.
Both Johnson and his students agree this is a dream come true.
“We're all really excited. We're doing fundraisers and sponsors just trying to make our dream happen,” Bielak said.
