Orchard Park, N.Y. (WKBW) - Music with Mar took over the B is for Books store. The kids had fun while getting a little lesson in music, numbers and language.
“People have a place to go that their kids are learning but they don't know they are learning,” Owner Jane Bell said.
This is just one of their many educational programs.
“We have story times that are related to messy place so you read a book then you get messy with finger paints. Music is great, they read a story that goes along with the music. We have costume characters on the weekend. Characters from books,” Bell said.
Bell has open the book store in 2007 and had three little kids at the time. She wanted books to be a part of their lives but in a fun way...
“You could do things you didn't have be super quiet like a library. We just wanted a place kids could come and associate books with fun,” Bell said.
Nadine Schwanz and her daughter Evelyn, 3, are regulars at the book store.
“We've been coming her for a few years for Music with Mar. I love that its geared toward preschoolers and they get so much out of it,” Schwanz said.
Evelyn's favorite part?
“The instruments,” Evelyn Schwanz said.
Many of their programs are geared toward families who are home in the mornings with young children...they also have weekend events for the entire family.
“It’s just fun to see the kids coming in and joining in and being interactive. They come in join in and enjoy themselves,” Bell said.
B is for Books has become a staple in the community. Bell said it is also a plus for the local economy.
