North Tonawanda, N.Y. (WKBW) – The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum has been a hit in North Tonawanda for years. Now, there is a new amusement park for kids that feature old-fashioned rides and a lot more.

“This new exhibit of the Herschell Carousel Factory Museum is called Kiddieland Testing Park. It's here because it exhibits the second half of the company’s history. Initially, the company made carousels,” Museum Director Rae Proefrock said.

Then, the Herschell Company went on to make other rides. The kiddieland displays rides built in the early to mid 1900's featuring cars, boats and helicopters from that era. Kids get to ride all of them.

“The carousel museum has a lot of neat facts that you wouldn't know unless you popped in and took a gander,” Dad Dean Anthony said.

This kiddie park is just part of the fun. The original Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum is also open for tours. Organizers said thousands of school kids come on field trips and family visits each year. Now, the kiddieland is another hands-on way for them to learn.

“We call it testing park because the company had to test every ride before they sent it out to the customer so now we are inviting the children of Western New York,” Proefrock said.

The park will remain open for the next six weeks, weather permitting. It will reopen again in the spring. Those who visit said it is amusement park fun with a twist.

“I'm just happy its right around the corner and the kids will get joy out of it,” Anthony said.

The cost is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $3 for children.
