It's a Buffalo tradition -- the smell of Cheerios filling the air near Buffalo's waterfront.

For years, Cheerios and Lucky Charms were produced here in the Queen City. Now, thanks to a $25 million expansion, General Mills in Buffalo is adding two more cereals to the mix: Corn Chex and Honey Nut Chex.

It's part of a $25 million expansion, which includes new packaging equipment and upgraded ingredient systems.

The expansion will allow the nation's oldest General Mills plant to retain 417 jobs. The plant has milled flour in Buffalo for more than 110 years.

Cereal produced in Buffalo has a 'BU' on the production code of the cereal box.

The new project is expected to be complete in May 2017.
