From the looks of crowds, it could be a strong season for vendors at the Broadway Market this year. Many vendors say Easter crowds started earlier this year and they welcome the business since the market struggles to attract customers throughout the year. Many vendors rely on Easter sales to carry them through the year.
That has prompted some businesses like E.M. Chrusciki Bakery to expand to the suburbs. But president Ania Gurnari says she could never give up their roots at the market. "That's where we started. That is our staple. That's where our roots are. So we will stay open at the Broadway Market."
This year, the market is filled with traditional year round vendors like the famous horseradish stand that has been grinding fresh horseradish for decades. You'll also find many temporary, seasonal stands, selling everything from jewelry and toys to hot sauce and polish specialties.
The Broadway Market opens at 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
