Buffalo, NY (WKBW) Channel 7 weather anchor / reporter Jennifer Stanonis led the charge Saturday, bringing along beautiful weather, for the "Taking Steps for Crohn's and Colitis" walk.
The money raised helps in trying to find a cure for these debilitating diseases.
Some background from WNY Crohn's Colitis website:
Over 1.4 million American adults and children are affected by digestive diseases -- one in every 200 Americans! While many suffer in silence, Take Steps brings together this community and encourages them to make noise and be heard.
The money you raise through Take Steps helps support patient programs, education efforts, and furthers crucial research. In the past three years alone, we have been able to bring together over 100,000 people and raise close to $22 million to help further CCFA's mission.
We have already achieved so much but there is much left to do! The health of our economy has improved, but unfortunately, the health of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis patients is uncertain.
The Crohn's and colitis community in New York is committed to continue awareness and fund raising efforts because we need to find better therapies and ultimately a cure for our friends and neighbors who struggle daily with these terrible digestive diseases.
