BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) Roadways were slick as the first lake effect snow hit Western New York.
Traffic coming into the city on the southbound Grand Island bridge was a slow go.
Eyewitness News crews were out in the elements, and captured images of a crash at Vulcan Street at the I-190 ramp in Buffalo where a car slammed into a barrier.
Traffic southbound headed into Buffalo was backed up on the I-190 as motorists slowed down near the accident scene, and congestion slowed down travel on the Grand Island bridges.
NFTA Traffic and Transit reporter Dave Cash reported that highways were slick in the northtowns, from Grand Island, into Niagara Falls, and Lockport.
A few inches of snow was reported in the Tonawandas.
An Eyewitness News viewer sent a Facebook message to Channel 7 from Wheatfield, close to the Niagara Falls Airport where, she reported almost 2 inches of snow there. Very wet and heavy. Shovelers beware.
