BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) An Eyewitness News team was on the scene on St. Louis Place at Virginia in Buffalo after a Monday morning thunderstorm roared through the area, bringing down several power poles, and knocking out power to hundreds of customers.
There were at least five poles with lines down attached to the St. Louis apartments, leaving many in the area without power.
One pole snapped, with a street light fixture attached, crashing to a vehicle below.
Buffalo Police and Fire officials were called to the scene to make sure residents in the area were safe, while assisting in the clean up.
National Grid trucks have also been dispatched to portions of the city impacted by any power problems. There is no timetable set as to when the power poles will be removed, and when full power will be restored.
