The heavy, wet snow made for a miserable ride along the NYS Thruway Friday. The first trouble started late Friday morning with numerous cars and tractor trailers sliding off the road near Silver Creek, NY. Seconds later, another round of trucks and cars heading into ditches and jackknifing in the slippery conditions--This time near the Batavia and Pembroke stretches of the Thruway.

The extent of injuries in either of these crashes is unknown at this time.

The Thruway westbound was closed at the Silver Creek exit while tow trucks and emergency crews made their way to the scene.
