Buffalo, NY (WKBW-TV)

23 year old Shawn Peace was arrested early Tuesday morning by members of the US Marshal’s Service Task Force in Buffalo, N.Y., along with investigators of the Erie County District Attorney’s Office and two New York City PD detectives. Peace was located at 507 Niagara Street, where he has been hiding out since shortly after committing a high-profile shooting on December 3, 2010 in New York City. Approximately two weeks ago, NYPD Detectives George Gelada and George Tsangaris developed information that Peace had fled to Buffalo, and contacted the New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad for assistance. After developing this lead, the detectives flew from New York City to Buffalo yesterday. This morning Peace was located at the Niagara Street apartment of his cousin, where he was arrested without incident. The Marshal’s Task Force is comprised of members of the Marshal’s Service, New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad, Buffalo Police, ATF, and Niagara County Sheriff’s Department.

On 12/03/10 Shawn Peace shot Trevor Bell, age 53, six times while robbing him. Bell was a cab driver who was shot while resisting Peace's robbery attempt. Additionally, detectives in Queens have attributed 18 armed robberies to him. This case received widespread media attention.
