A heavy blast of snow today made for a miserable ride along the NYS Thruway between Cheektowaga and West Seneca Friday.

At 12:25PM while responding to another accident on the Thruway, state police came upon an accident on I-90 westbound between exit 53 (I-190) and 54 (State route 400) involving 3 tractor-trailers and 4 passenger vehicles. All but the far left lane were initially blocked by the accident. The operator of vehicle 7 was taken via ambulance to South Buffalo Mercy Hospital for minor injuries. The Thruway was closed westbound at exit 53 (I-190) for about ½ hour at approximately 1:10PM while the accident scene was cleared. The Thruway was re-opened with two lanes open at approximately 1:35PM and all 4 lanes were re-opened at 2:45PM.

Hanover, NY – serious injury accident on I-90
On I-90 eastbound just before the exit 58 exit ramp (Silvercreek interchange) a bob-tail tractor (tractor-trailer operating without a trailer) drifted off the right shoulder, went through a guide rail, down a small embankment and rolled over coming to rest on it’s roof. The operator was extricated by fire personnel and taken via ambulance to Lakeshore Memorial Hospital for treatment of head and internal injuries. He was then airlifted via Star Flight to ECMC in Buffalo.
