Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - Thursday, the Alliance for Quality Education, Citizen Action of New York and the New York State United Teachers launched their 'Students First: The Reality Tour'. The tour is aimed at raising awareness about the billions of dollars in aid cut to public schools under the state budget. The groups are now urging the legislature to extend the millionaires tax and restore funding for education. Currently, the millionaires tax expires this year.
"Tough times call for tough measures, but guess what?," Citizen Action of New York Leader Organizer Danielle Judge-Johnson. "It's always been a tough time and you still have to do the right thing at the end of the day. You find ways to cut a lot of things but education isn't one of them."
The legislative session is scheduled to end on June 20th.
