BUFFALO, N.Y. ( WKBW ) It took some careful planning, but Eyewitness News Executive Producer Lisa Polizzi pulled it off...a surprise "baby shower" for Eyewitness News This Morning multi-media journalist Jaclyn Asztalos.
With help from Creative Services Manager Sue Dobmeier, the baby shower aired LIVE as a surprise for Jaclyn, Friday on "Eyewitness News This Morning."
Jaclyn was brought into the "AM/Buffalo" studio by anchor Patrick Taney at 6:45a.m. for what she was told would be a special segment.
Without any clue of what was coming next, Jaclyn entered the studio to see her husband Nick Klaich; sister Jessica Asztalos; with Mom and Dad Jim and Toni Asztalos all there for the surprise behind a table of goodies and gifts.
Business First reporter Elizabeth Carey, a mom of two young children, was swept up with emotion for the surpise, just a few days ahead of Mother's Day. Chief Meteorologist Mike Randall helped introduce the family and show off the decorations, that included baby clothes strung around the kitchen set.
Co-anchor Ginger Geoffery returned from her assignment in Niagara Falls to join the gathering, along with producer Jason Cowdell, director Aaron Pike, and other Channel 7 staffers.
Jaclyn and her husband Nick are having a baby boy, due around August 1st. They do not have name for the baby just yet.
Jaclyn is a native of West Seneca, and has been a part of the Channel 7 family for two years.
Happy Mother's Day for all the moms to be, moms and grandmoms, and in remembrance of those who have passed...from everyone at Eyewitness News.
