Funeral services will be held this week for an Army veteran from northwestern Pennsylvania who was killed in an accident during the massive lake-effect snowstorm in western New York.

Family members tell local media that 30-year-old Robert Cedar of Derrick City was helping to dig his father's truck out of deep snow last Tuesday evening in suburban Cheektowaga when he got pinned between the vehicle and a high lift.

His father, Michael Cedar, says he and son had traveled to the Buffalo area in a plow-equipped truck to help people stranded by the weather.

Robert Cedar graduated from high school in Bradford, Pennsylvania and enlisted in the Army. He served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

His funeral is Wednesday morning at a Bradford funeral home, followed by burial with full military honors in Willow Dale Cemetery.
