A 16-year-old boy in Franklinville is charged with making a terroristic threat for comments he's accused of making on Facebook.

Deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office arrested the boy just after 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 1. Deputies report the boy had posted in a "Facebook chat room" instructing other users on how and where to "purchase items that would be used by school shooters." It's unclear whether the posts were made in Facebook Messenger or a Facebook page or group, as Facebook does not have a chat room feature.

Several Cattaraugus County school districts expressed concern at the posts. Administrators worked with school resource officers to follow security protocol. They found no immediate threat to any schools.

The teen has not been identified. He is being held at Cattaraugus County Jail on $2,500 bail.
