New York authorities say the ex-girlfriend of an upstate man killed in a double homicide and her husband have been charged in the slayings.

Joshua Niles was fatally shot Oct. 22 along with his girlfriend Amber Washburn outside the home the couple shared in Sodus, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of Rochester.

Late Monday, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office announced that 25-year-old Charlene Childers of Sunray, Texas, was charged with conspiracy and criminal possession of a weapon.

Childers had two children with Niles. She's also wanted in Texas for allegedly injuring a child.

Her husband, former Sunray, Texas police chief Timothy Dean, is accused of shooting Niles. He's charged with murder and is currently jailed in Texas on an unrelated case.

Information on their lawyers wasn't immediately available.
