Dr. Richard Jetter won't serve any time behind bars for lying to police.

The former Hamburg Superintendent was sentenced Tuesday to a $1,000 fine and 250 hours of community service. If he completes those and stays out of trouble for a year, he will be granted a conditional discharge.

Jetter could have faced up to a year in jail for falsely reporting an incident.

This all stems from a case where he claimed someone vandalized his car in the district parking lot, when in fact he had hit a pole in the City of Buffalo the night before.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita said, "This jerk held a press conference in a parking lot trying to be a martyr."
