The Sheridan Park Volunteer Fire Company in the Town of Tonawanda is mourning the loss of its leader.

The company announced the passing of Chief Randy Rider in a tweet Wednesday afternoon.

"We ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers and we will share visitation information when it becomes available. Rest Easy Chief," the tweet read.

Rider, a certified fire service instructor, had served as chief of Sheridan Park since 1995. According to his Linkedin page, he also worked for the past 22 years in the Town of Tonawanda Highway Department.
