LOCKPORT, NY - Lake Effect Ice Cream is a popular, locally-owned frozen dessert company. Owners Erik Bernardi and Jason Wulf are teachers and friends who, several years ago, decided to pursue their dream of making uniquely flavored ice cream together.
The duo have found tremendous success, with distribution in dozens of Buffalo Niagara stores and a growing line of popular ice cream varieties.
Last summer they opened a scoop shop in the side of their Lockport warehouse. It's been a big hit, drawing locals and fans from as far as the Southtowns. Customers come for Lake Effect's fun and decadent line of custom sundaes, which like their ice cream flavors, often feature local foods and flavors. Take for instance the Red Velvet Cake sundae, which features a red velvet donut from the popular, locally-owned donut shop, Paula's.
Buffalo Spree magazine's food editor Christa Glennie Seychew decided to take the WKWB Eyewitness News Team up for a visit, where much fun (and ice cream) was had.
