It's a side of this story we rarely hear. 25-year-old Eileen Valencia's boyfriend, Armando Dominguez is the father of her three children. But he's also in the U.S. illegally and facing possible deportation.

She's praying he will be allowed to stay. “I think the children will be better here than in Mexico. In Mexico, there's nothing,” she explained exclusively to 7 Eyewitness News Reporter, Ali Touhey.

Valencia said the two met in North Carolina more than a decade ago. She's a U.S. Citizen. He's from Mexico and together they now have three young children. She said he's a good father who was here to work and provide for his family.
Dominguez has a sordid past. First, he had a felony conviction for breaking and entering in 2005. He was sentenced to up to five months for the crime. “He didn't do anything. He was just outside of the house,” Valencia said.
Then, in 2008 he had another felony conviction for sexual exploitation of a minor. That's why he was sent back to Mexico in 2009. “All I can say is he's not guilty,” she said.
Now, she's hoping a federal judge will see things that way too for the sake of her children. “There was no other way to have him here. He was charged with some things that he was not guilty of. I think my children need to have their dad here with them.”
