On November 6th, a massive sinkhole opened in East Aurora in the parking lot of Mikey Dee's diner. East Aurora is attributing the sinkhole to a culvert running underneath the village that was made in 1987.

The sinkhole showed the village that a new solution was needed for the culvert. At a meeting on Tuesday they showed business owners five different solutions that could be done, the catch, the businesses will probably have to pitch in money.

"We can't take the full hit on this project," East Aurora Mayor Allan Kasprzak said, "I mean it's not on our property."

The village believes they shouldn't have to pay for the entire project while the business owners disagree.

"They can't make that call because one penny is too much when you already pay taxes" Katerina Scouras, a business owner, said.

The project would cost an estimated $1.5 million, with local businesses owing about $350 a year for thirty years.

The village will meet again on Tuesday, January 16th to decide the specifics.
