20 year-old Jake Klocek addressed the court for the first time since accidentally shooting his friend, Anthony King in November of 2016.

Klocek turned to face King's family and friends inside Erie County Judge Michael Pietruszka's courtroom, apologizing for the death of King.

King's father wrote a letter to the court, asking the judge to sentence 20 year-old Klocek to the maximum sentence of 12 years. Klocek pleadedguilty to manslaughter in July of 2017.

Judge Pietruszka sentenced Klocek to an indeterminate sentence of four to twelve years, with Klocek eligible for parole after four years.

Erie County prosecutors say the shooting shouldn't be called an accident, since all steps taken that led to the shooting were deliberate and reckless. Klocek's attorney, Tom Eoannou, says this was a difficult case with a tragic loss of life and believes the sentence was a just one.
