Police sources tell 7 Eyewitness News that the driver involved in a car chase on Grand Island Monday night is likely the getaway driver in the murder at Anchor Bar over the weekend.

Gregory Ramos, 24, was taken into custody on Grand Island after a chase that began in Niagara Falls around 10:30pm Monday.

During the chase, the sheriff's office issued a shelter in place alert for residents as they considered Ramos possibly armed and dangerous. The alert was lifted after Ramos was taken into custody.

Ramos is being charged with felony domestic assault and harassment in connection with a domestic incident earlier this month. He's being held on $250,000 bail.

He's also facing vehicle and traffic charges in Niagara Falls related to the chase.

In a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda wouldn't officially comment on the role Ramos had played but said of the investigation, "We are making progress.  We'll hopefully make an arrest in the not too distant future, but at this point I can't comment."

Sources say Ramos was the getaway driver in the murder that took place in Anchor Bar's kitchen Friday night. Freddie Dizon, 32, a line cook at the iconic restaurant was gunned down and a second man was grazed by a bullet.

The suspected shooter in the murder has not been taken into custody.

In the hours leading up to his death, Dizon made angry posts on Facebook, alleging someone had molested his child and that this person was harassing him.
