There's a new face in the race for Congress.

Democrat Tom Casey said he knows it’s a tough hill to climb, but he's ready to take on Representative Chris Collins.

Casey joins a relatively crowded field of democrats looking to oust the Congressman. He's now the third candidate to enter the race. Former Erie County Prosecutor Sean Bunny and Monroe County resident Nicholas Stankevich are also running.

Casey's born and raised in Buffalo and currently lives in East Aurora. He's a retired environmental engineer. Casey's running to establish a balance of power between who he calls the little people and the wealthy, to lower the national debt, and to reevaluate how we spend our money.

He's no stranger to campaigning. He's run for State Senate, State Assembly and Congress a total of six times before.

Reporter Ali Touhey: Why is this time different?

Casey: First of all, every time I ran before, I had a fulltime job. I'm now retired. I have a quite small pension, social security, and lots of hours. I also just have really grappled with the issues and I feel very comfortable where I think America should be going is where a lot of the people think it should be going.

Casey said he's been in contact with the other candidates seeking the democratic endorsement. He said they all plan to work together to take over the seat.

All of the candidates are taking part in a forum in Amherst, December 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. at 35 George Karl Blvd.
