A Jamestown resident has been issued a ticket after it was discovered that a deer was being kept in the home.

According to officers at the Department of Environmental Conservation, the individual was found to be in possession of a whitetail deer fawn, being kept on the second floor of the house.

Officers say the resident believed they could keep it for up to six weeks and then release it back into the wild. This information is not accurate.

The officer took possession of the fawn and issued the ticket to the resident for illegal possession of protected wildlife.

The fawn was in good health and was released back into the wild.
