Two Batavia Firefighters Arrested in Alleged Gambling Ring

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WKBW) - The Genesee County Sheriff's Drug Task Force arrested three Batavia residents on charges tied to illegal gambling.

The Task Force conducted a six month investigation, that included raids at four homes.

Officers say they found cocaine during one of those raids.

Two of the men arrested are City of Batavia firefighters. According to the Office of the City Manager of Batavia, the two firefighters were suspended pending further investigation of their alleged criminal misconduct. The investigation is ongoing.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Office issued a release stating the Genesee County Local Drug Enforcement Task Force, comprised of police officers from the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, Batavia Police NET Officers, and the Le Roy Village Police Department worked together on a six month investigation into a local gambling operation, resulting in the arrest of three Batavia residents.

Those arrested were Gregory G. Phillips, age 39, charged with Possession of Gambling Records in the First Degree, a class E-Felony of the New York State Penal Law. ( 1 count ), and Criminal Possession Of A Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a class E-felony of the New York State Penal Law. ( 1 count ).

Brian C. Bordinaro, age 43, was charged with Possession Of Gambling Records in the First Degree, a class E-Felony of the New York State Penal Law. ( 1 count ).

Lance J. Engel, age 41, charged with Possession of Gambling Records in the First Degree, a class E-Felony of the New York State Penal Law. ( 1 count ).
