Mayville, NY (WKBW) - The Taglianetti murder trial is set to resume on Tuesday morning, just days after emotional testimony from the woman at the center of the deadly love triangle.
The murder trial is heading into week two. The last two days of testimony focused on the accused killer's wife, Mary Taglianetti. She also had an affair with the victim, Keith Reed.
The defense grilled Mary Taglianetti on Friday, questioning her credibility.
Mary admitted to an affair with Keith Reed, who prosecutors say Taglianetti shot to death in September of 2012.
Mary also admitted to sexually tinged e-mails and messages exchanged with other men, while she was still married.
Defense attorney Nathaniel Barone took aim at Mary's claim that she begged her husband not to go to New York the day Keith Reed was killed. According to the defense, there is no record of that in police interviews.
He also pointed out a discrepancy in a recent divorce filing.
The Jamestown Post Journal reports that Taglianetti's boss at the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico took the stand. He testified that on the day prosecutors say Taglianetti killed Reed, the defendant called in sick.
Attorneys expect the trial to last another one and a half to three weeks. At the beginning of the trial, defense attorneys told Channel 7's Rachel Elzufon that there were no plans for Taglianetti to take the stand.
