BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - A murder unsolved for 34 years may finally have a closing chapter.

In 1979, 21-year-old Patricia Rodriguez was savagely stabbed to death over 100 times. Her body was found in April in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna.

Now, her husband, 59-year-old Michael Rodriguez, is behind bars and was arraigned this morning, pleading not guilty to second degree murder charges.

He was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center without bail and will appear back in court within the next six weeks.

Officials from the State Attorney General's office say new forensic evidence and eyewitness testimony have given them a very strong case against Michael.

Tonight, Channel 7's Jason Gruenauer speaks to Patricia Rodriguez's mother. Hear what she has to say on Eyewitness News at 5 and 6.
