Valentina Kolock has been missing from Tonawanda for nearly three weeks. Tonight, the fifteen-year-old has been found.

Tonawanda police confirmed with Eyewitness News earlier today that Valentina is safe and back in the area.

We spoke with Valentina’s parents earlier this month, when she had been missing for about a week. At that point, they parents had an idea that she was with someone from the Internet, as she was using the web in ways they were unaware.

“I think she feels more comfortable talking to older adults,” Valentina’s parents told Eyewitness News on February 7.

“Her leaving the area is a direct result of her having communication through online websites…dating websites,” said Town of Tonawanda Police Captain Joseph Carosi.

Police say that she was using the free online dating site Plenty of Fish. Ironically enough, social media sites were what led police to finding the missing fifteen-year-old.

“Through Facebook and Twitter…through people sharing links and passing the information was how we located Valentina,” said Captain Carosi. “We received hundreds of tips.”

The investigation is ongoing, and police are still working to find out if a crime was committed in this case.
